The Mini Drosselmeyer German Nussknacker
Handmade in the Erzgebirge region of Seiffen, Germany - where the first nutcrackers were made over 100 years ago!
English: nutcracker
German: nussknacker
Nutcrackers from the Erzgebirge
Nutcrackers are as much a part of an Erzgebirge Christmas as stollen. They are still fashioned in local workshops just as they were in the past. About 130 individual steps are needed to make one of these figures. They are made almost exclusively from native woods such as spruce, linden, beech, alder and lime.
While the non-authentic versions look a lot like the real ones, subtle differences help make true German nutcrackers stand out. Third-party manufacturers use synthetic hair like on baby dolls. The hair/beards of high-quality nutcrackers are usually made from rabbit fur, hand-painted, and the accessories are often made from leather. Other important things to look for in a real German nutcracker is the region from which it was manufactured.
Can my Erzgebirge nutcracker REALLY crack nuts? As handicraft products, they have often have a high collector's value. The use for nut cracking could significantly reduce this value. Due to the high cultural and artistic significance, we recommend sticking to nut tongs/openers that are better equipped if you need to crack nuts.
Features: rabbit fur, hand-painted traditional attire inspired from Herr Drosselmeyer from the classic ballet The Nutcracker including an eye patch, tiny nutcracker, pocket watch, and top hat with a wooden lever on back that opens and closes mouth

Very detailed and authentic
It is very detailed and a lot of work has gone into the clock maker nutcracker. I like that it is from Germany but I wish it was a little taller. I knew the size when I ordered it but was still hoping. Otherwise it would be 5 stars
