This handcrafted, solid pewter stein honors the great German Romanticist, self-taught painter Carl Spitzweg. His artwork is beautifully detailed on the main body and the lid including:
- “Der Briefbote” (The Postman)
- “Der Jugendfreund” (The Childhood Friend)
- “Der ewige Hochzeiter” (The Eternal Bridegroom)
- “Der arme Poet” (The Poor Poet).
- Two portraits of Carl Spitzweg in youth (1837) and as an older man (1880) are also featured on the lid.
The main panel reads:

which translates as:
