100% made in Germany using the finest "Wester Wald" clay. King-Werke opened in 1949 and is one of the last remaining authentic German beer stein factories that still produces steins & mugs in accordance with century old traditions.

The "Old German Style" Stonegrey Technique:
After cobalt blue color has been applied on the stein, the cobalt is removed with small sponges and tissue from the raised areas so that the cobalt remains in the recessed parts of the decor.
After this has been completed, the stein is coated with transparent glaze to "seal" the stein and it is fired in the kiln. This kind of stein gets a unique look, resulting from the color combination of the natural clay color (grey stoneware) and the cobalt blue coloring.
