Known as Big Mo, this U.S. Navy battleship is best remembered as the site where Japan surrendered, ending World War II. Commissioned in June 1944, she fought in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and later saw action in the Korean War. Decommissioned in 1955, Big Mo was brought back and modernized in 1984 as part of the 600-ship Navy plan. In January 1991, she provided fire support during Operation Desert Storm.
