Beekeeping is a cherished tradition in the Swiss Alps, passed down for generations. In early summer, Swiss beekeepers in the mountains around Lake Brienz harvest sweet Swiss mountain honey from alpine wildflowers. This charming clock captures a scene with Barry, the St. Bernard, standing guard in front of a classic Brienz chalet. Two handcrafted beehives—modeled after those used by local beekeepers—decorate the façade, surrounded by colorful alpine blooms.
Powered by two ‘C’ batteries, this quartz clock is crafted from locally sourced wood, with the chalet and figurines hand-carved and painted with the same care as our mechanical clocks. The only differences are that the quartz doesn’t need winding, and its cuckoo sound comes from a high-quality recording.
The solid iron weights are purely decorative. Each figurine is unique, and a manual switch lets you silence the cuckoo without stopping the clock.
